If you have yet to visit the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre in Manchester since the hefty refurbishment, then you will be in for a fabulous surprise!

LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Manchester

We visited with friends during the summer holidays and found ourselves amazed at the transformation! On the day we visited, an action packed event had just launched with the centre teaming up with Cartoon Network. Visitors were given the chance to shoot their own stop-motion films with characters from Adventure Time and The Powerpuff Girls in the all new specially designed animation studio which the girls loved.

The animation room is rather impressive and has added a new dynamic to the centre – next door is another room for sessions such as crafting, however the girls were able to fully let their imagination run wild whilst making their own Powerpuff Girls video.

The centre has changed so much, not only have the two new rooms been incorporated on the far side of the main centre room but the cafe area has changed too. The cafe extension has made such a huge difference to the centre as it is much lighter, brighter and there is much more space to manoeuvre. The area is much comfier for parents and families to relax in and makes the whole experience much more enjoyable.

Long gone is the huge soft play area in the middle of the centre, which has been replaced with the new and exciting LEGO Ninjago City Adventure  next to the 4D Cinema. Be prepared to be greeted by the rather impressive LEGO Ninjago Dragon!

Set over three storeys, this awesome play area features:

  • Ninjago Build Table
  • Ninja Skill Training
  • Interactive Adventure Playground
  • Rotating Climbing Wall

The Adventure Playground was something the girls thoroughly enjoyed and we found them perfecting their Ninja skills by hanging upside down!

Whilst the girls were happily ensconced in running around the new and improved soft play section, the adults took part in the lightening buzzer bars challenge, as part of the Ninjago training – it was so much fun and proves the centre is fun for adults too!

The attractions still feature MiniLand, the 4D Cinema, the Kingdom Quest, Merlin’s Apprentice and Forest Ranger Pursuit rides alongside LEGO Friends, which has moved nearer the exit, offering visitors something to experience as they leave.

The refurbishment really is a credit to all involved with the centre – we had not visited in a while as Mini Me is at an age where she wants something more than the centre used to offer, however the new Animation Studio is a fantastic addition and gives children the chance to be more hands on. The soft play area is much more fun and inviting and doesn’t take over the centre anymore. From a parents perspective, LEGOLAND Discovery Centre has so much more to offer families now and you really can make a full day of the centre and still have so much more to explore. The centre is much lighter now and makes it easier to keep a track of your child and just feels a lot less crowded due to all the space. I also like the fact there is more for adults to take part in, making it an ideal all round family destination in Manchester.

With the October half term on the horizon, I am sure there will be more events taking place at the LEGOLAND Discovery centre and you can keep up to date with information over at the LDC Manchester website.

I would seriously recommend buying your tickets online as you can save money depending on how many there are in your party. Further details and offers can be found here.
