Have A Day Off With Toby Carvery #ManicMumDay

A couple of weeks ago, I drove passed an old first date venue of mine and noticed that it had turned into a Toby Carvery, literally overnight, with no warning… I hadn’t even realised it had been closed for refurbishments! So when the opportunity came along to review a local Toby Carvery to promote #ManicMumday I jumped at the chance!

How nice it would be to not worry about cooking an evening meal nor have to worry about washing up afterwards… not only that but due to my fitness routine, I had not had a glorious roast in quite some time!

Mini Me and I took along another single mum friend and her daughter for a lovely Monday evening treat. The girls were happy and I was able to have civilised adult conversation.

It was lovely to see the restaurant all decked out with Christmas decorations, such a warm feel and much more homely!

We were seated quickly with menus brought to the table, but even after a quick peruse,  we already knew it would all be about the roast! My friend, who is a vegetarian, plumped for a meat free carvery (£4.29) basically everything bar the meat, though there are several vegetarian options available, including a rather delicious sounding Brocolli and Brie Parcel (£5.99).

An adult carvery is £5.99 with the option of sizing up to King Size for an extra £1.50 – extra meat, an extra Yorkie and two chipolata sausages! The meat on offer was: Beef, Pork, Turkey and Gammon. Myself and the children chose the beef, which was very tasty… just not enough of it for my liking. This in turn meant I had to stockpile my plate with cauliflower cheese like it was my last ever portion. Clearly I ate it all!

The girls had mini roasts and finished with vanilla ice cream complete with strawberry sauce and a Flake… oddly enough, they didn’t complain about being hungry when they got home!

The prices are very reasonable for what you get and it is customary to load your plate so tha you cannot see the colour of the plate. It is sacrilege if you do not! The staff are friendly and fortunately leave you to munching on your food mountain during your meal. It was a quiet Monday evening when we attended, so the queue for the actual carvery was minimal and service was pretty quick – be prepared that it will be busier at the weekend! Soft drinks are refillable at a self service station, which I like, but we did not need to on this occasion.

On returning home, Mini me had noticed she had lost a teddy bear, a quick call to the Toby Carvery restaurant ensued and fortunately the lovely manager located the bear. On visiting the morning after I was greeted with an all you could eat buffet style breakfast. Unfortunately, my diet had started again, but now knowing breakfasts are offered, we may pop down again!

A roast was the perfect way to kick start my week and a wonderful treat to have the night off. If you too need a #ManicMumday break, why not head to your nearest Toby Carvery and let someone else deal with the washing up!

Keep checking the Toby Carvery website for special offers, in the meantime, use this special QR code to enjoy a free Ice Cream Sundae!
